Help please, my computer is not working?

My computer isn't working for two days so I decided to ask and see if anyone can help me. I always put my lap top to sleep and i close the lid. That is just what I usually do and it was working but the next time I opened the lid to turn it on, it was off so i pressed the on button. It turns on the computer but there is nothing on the screen, I just see lights on the keyboard. like the light on the num lock and caps lock. It is an HP computer, windows 7... The name of the comp is Pavilion dv 7. 64 bits if that helps. Also I only had this computer for one and a half years. And this Pavilion lap top has a lot of light, it is like sensor light that u can adjust the volume, the wireless and stuff like that. I just see those light and nothing on the screen.. And also the num lock and caps lock lights, they are flashing but nothing happens. The light never used to flash when i turned the computer. Please help me and tell me what to do if that is something I can fix on my own. Thank you
